講演概要：
Actors/actresses can change their voices in various way in oreder to give the impression of the character they are portraying. We also do it all the time in every day conversation, but usually unconsciously. I will talk about how our voices are finely-tuned instruments, which we change, depending on the emotional or social or cualtural situation. I will focus on some scoustic and srticulatory characteristics of voice quality type voice change, and how these relate to emotional expressions. Also, I will discuss examples of "voice changes" appropriate and inappropriate for different cultures and social settings; for instance, is a happy voice saying "banana" in Japanese, the same as a happy voice saying "banana" in Korean or English? Or, is a sexy English voice?
